Master Grower Tom
Blount Hard at Work in his "office":
We started this
venture almost 2 years ago and are very exited about
our new situation at the University
of Nevada at Reno.
The demand for our product increased substantially and quickly which has prompted our relocation to the What makes our operation unique is that is we use 4 different hydroponic techniques. We have micro climates within the greenhouses which allow us to grow greens, berry crops, legumes, potatoes, carrots, onions and root vegetables all within the same greenhouse. We work closely with the University faculty and students on special projects, which include research in the nutritional value of hydroponics vs in ground organic products. We are adding 2 more greenhouses in the fall, for a total of 4 on the |
We
work in close collaboration
with Tivoli
Naturals, LLC
in Here
at Nevada Naturals we use several different growing systems: Aeroponics
system for cloning or
rooting plants. NASA has stated that this
is the " most efficent way to grow plants". This
method is best for long term fruiting tomatos, peppers and ginger.
Vertical
system. This
system allows
for the growing of a variety of mid size, longer term plants.
Herb examples are basil, parsley, mints, thyme,
tarragon, saffron, oregano, bok choy, peas ,beans etc.
Stacker
system. This
system is best for long term smaller rooted plants such as
strawberrries, herbs, garlic and onions.
Overhead flood
system. This system is great for cucmbers, peas, beans and any
produce that enjoys hanging down to be harvested.
Our greenhouse concept is the prototype to study how to grow a healthy and varied diet for the starving villages around the world. These greenhouses are designed to produce 10,000 pounds of product every month that could help feed a village of 1,000 people. We
hope to begin worldwide production by 2010. We will be seeking
visionary
investors as we approach this milestone in our growth.
